With all the current events going on, Corona, financial problems, protests, violence, It’s okay to be anxious but prolonged anxiety tends to have a negative effect on us physically , emotionally, you name it.
You are heading towards a mental breakdown, if worries actually hold you down.
So I’ve got a suggestion that anyone can try. Ever heard of meditation?.
Over the years, I used to associate meditation with monks and yoga and “woo-woo” people in general (I said what I said).
I shared my anxiety with a friend earlier, I had started a new job and it was not going right.
Then, complaints started coming from my boss and no matter how much effort was put in, l always left work dejected, so I finally had enough.
At the beginning of the week, when all was quiet, I sat, turned off my phone,
sent my siblings away and meditated.
Firstly, I thought of nothing at all, just focused on my breathing.
It was difficult because thoughts kept intruding but after a while my whole body relaxed, only then did I start to reflect on my problems and surprisingly all the ways I could improve made their way into my consciousness .
The fact that I had to place my focus was alarmingly clear and so I began the week with a game plan.
Which Is why I waited till today to tell you that my experiment worked.
I was calmer, more efficient and my boss was satisfied.
So, next time you feel anxious try it out.
Sit, get comfortable and focus on your breathing.
Try not to sleep!!
