Dealing with pressure.
Yesterday we talked about pressure, focusing on the types of pressure and their effect on you as an individual.
Today, we will be focusing on ‘how to deal with pressure.’
Now, I believe pressure doesn’t ever leave us. Except if you move to an isolated place and live by yourself. That’s impossible so pressure hardly ever leaves but it is very possible to minimize the effect of it on your life.
Take a huge breath.
It’s funny, this heading but it is very practical. When ever you feel the pressure building, lean back, close your eyes and take a deep, deep breath.
This seems to simple but trust me it has huge benefits. It helps to stop you from over thinking on it. It’s like a reset button.
This works for me in tense and heated moments so I suggest you try it too.
You have your race to run.
We all have similar features, equipped with the same number of body parts more or less but that is where the similarities end, we have different personalities, we were raised in different environments, from different backgrounds so our focus are on very different things.
So when you feel the pressure from the achievements of your peers take a moment to tell your self that you’re are headed in your direction and you aren’t running late.. you are right on time.
This is called touching base and this helps to place your focus on your goal, the pressure won’t leave but it will take a backburner to the other emotions you’re feeling at the moment .
Set a Goal.
You’re more likely to act based on pressure when you don’t have a set goal. Goals keep you determined and focused.
You’re so intent on what you want to achieve that you have little time for anything else. So take out a pen and paper and start writing. Those things you’ve kept inside, bring them to the surface and address them.
You’ll find your self more focused and energised to feel pressure from anyone or anything.
I would love to hear tips on how you overcomes pressure. I would like to hear about your struggles too.
Let’s do this in the comments section and also don’t forget to share.
Peace and love.
