ย NIGERIAN SLANGS AND THEIR MEANINGย :
ย ย Nigeria is a country blessed and naturally gifted by God and versatile when it comes to its lingua franca. The official language being English of course , as she was colonized by the British(an English speaking country). However, pidgin has gradually taken a place in the history of languages spoken in the country and is becoming the most used language in the country.
ย ย It is used by mostly everyone and anyone for the conduct of business or day to day activities including the old and aged, youth and kids alike. With the emergence of pidgin English comes the nigerian slangs and we can hardly go a day in this country without hearing them on a daily basis.
Some of these slangs includes:
- “How far” – How are you.
- “waka front” – Go forward
- “I go control u” – I will contact you
- “show, make we reason” – Come, let’s discuss
- “no wahala” – No problem
- “mellow down” – Calm down
- “yarn caps” – saying/telling lies
These are just a few in this blessed nation of ours, you can drop, share and comment yours in the comment section
