The Horrors of Body Odor
Imagine being trapped in a poorly ventilated room filled with people? Close your eyes for a second and try to think with your nose, and perceive the cocktail of foul-smelling odors you would have to endure in such a scenario. I reckon it would be a horrible experience.
We all have had an experience where we had to sidestep or hold our breaths because someone in close proximity had a stink on him or her. We all have also been in a position where after a long day, we can’t stand ourselves because we absolutely stink.
Whether on our bodies, or that of others, body odour is not a good fit. It’s quite demoralizing and literally breath quenching. So, I would like to share quick tips on how to find the right scent for you and win the war against body odour.
Looking good is a fulltime job. From childhood, it’s drummed into our heads how we are addressed the way we are dressed. But I dare say that a bad odour leaves a worse impression than a bad fashion sense. So, let’s jump right into the business of smelling nice.
5 Things You Should Consider When Picking A Scent.
There are a few things you should consider when going about the business of smelling nice though, and they are as listed:
-
Your wallet.
Yup, you have to determine how much you’re willing to spend on finding the right scent to avoid stories that touch the heart. It makes absolutely no sense to smell nice and be wretched. So plan your budget and allocate something for your scents in proportion to your income.
-
Sensitivity.
Everyone’s bodies are different. What is cool for you could be potentially dangerous and toxic for someone else. One could be allergic to some ingredients in some perfumes. I once used a spray that left me itching and sneezing until the scent wore off.
When choosing a scent, first perform a patch test- spraying a bit on a patch of your skin and waiting a few minutes to see how you react to it. If you are someone with a highly tolerant body, then hurray for you.
-
Density.
Despite popular opinion, there is such a thing as too much perfume. You could approach some people and literally choke on the perfumes. I once hugged someone and was immediately overwhelmed by the heavy scent. Some scents are just too heavy and should not be used, except you’re deliberately going for that then good luck.
-
Your personality.
Do you sweat too much? or have a job that requires a lot of physical labour? do you love citrusy scents, musk or flowery ones? All these and more are things to consider when choosing a scent. You would use the scent for a while so you wear what you like and connect with. Feel free to experiment with as many scents as you like so you can be in tune with your preferences.
-
Don’t be afraid to mix.
Sometimes one scent is just not enough to give you your desired effect, a friend of mine uses two scents before leaving the house. Two or more scents can be mixed together to give you the desired results. Personally, I use deodorant and an atomizer to achieve the effect I want.
Let’s call it a wrap for now. Thanks for reading. Also feel free to share your personal tips and experiences in the comment section, let us know how you achieved your desired scent. And if this article was helpful, do well to share it to others.
