3 dangers of taking cold water
Who doesn’t want to have chilled water after a long day or even after morning workout?. We all have this craving to take cold water and often we succumb to it.
While some of us take it for the refreshing feeling it gives, others to quench thirst and some people(like me), take it to just relax the urge to take something cold.
But the question here is, do we know that taking this cold water or even beverage can cause more harm to our body and health than good?. Below are some of the negative effects cold water has on our body:
RESTRICT DIGESTION :
Cold water when taken, contracts the blood vessels thereby restricting our digestion. Instead of our body breaking down and digesting the food, it is busy regulating body temperature and that of the water. This can lead to water loss in the body and cause dehydration.
SORE THROAT :
This is one of the main reason we are being warned by our elders to desist from taking cold substances. Taking cold water can also cause sore throat and stuffy nose. Taking cold water will result in excess mucus build up that causes vulnerability of the respiratory tract and exposes it to inflammatory infections.
PREVENTS BREAKDOWN OF FAT :
Experts also say that drinking cold water immediately after meal, can make the temperature of the water solidify the fats in the food. Thereby making it tough for the unwanted fats to be broken down and digested. It is also suggested that we do not drink water immediately after meal, a 30mins interval should be given.
Some other side effects also include brain freeze, shock factor, tooth pain, headache etc.
These reasons should not make us stop taking water but instead, we should start consuming warm water or water at room temperature that is actually beneficial to our health.
Don’t forget, Health is Wealth.
